UK ETA System Overview

The UK is rolling out an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system for travelers from visa-exempt countries. Currently, this requirement applies to nationals from several Gulf states, with plans to extend it to other regions including the EU, the US, and Canada. Travelers must apply for the ETA online before their trip via the official government website at gov.uk. Alternatively, third-party services are available to simplify the application process.
An ETA is valid for two years and allows multiple entries during its validity period.
Before traveling, always verify whether your nationality requires an ETA to enter the UK.
Passport Guidelines
Your passport should be valid for your entire stay in the UK. For travelers outside the EU, it’s recommended your passport has at least six months of validity remaining.
Ensure your passport has at least one blank page for entry and exit stamps.
Passenger Locator & Entry Requirements
Most travelers are no longer required to complete a Passenger Locator Form before entering the UK. However:
- UK Border Force may still conduct checks upon arrival.
- Keep your travel itinerary and accommodation details handy.
- Stay updated on any new restrictions, especially if coming from areas with elevated risk.
Visa Information

Proof of Return or Onward Travel
UK border officials may ask for evidence of your onward or return travel plans, so have your tickets available.
